Item writer
Write standalone questions, case vignettes and essay prompts with full explanations for every option. CFA® charterholder, or passed the level you write for. Paid per accepted item.
Technical reviewer
Check every item for curriculum accuracy, answer-key correctness and defensible distractors. The last line before a question reaches a candidate.
Candidate support
Answer support mail, sit the product as a candidate would, and turn what you hear into a prioritised list of what to fix next. Level II or III candidate preferred.
How we work.
Remote and flexible
Everyone works remotely, on their own schedule. Item writing is paid per accepted item, so you choose how much you take on in any given month.
A short paid trial
We start with a small paid batch — usually three items with explanations. It tells us both whether the work suits you and whether the writing suits us.
Real editorial standards
Every item is reviewed independently for curriculum accuracy, answer-key correctness and distractor plausibility. Expect notes, and expect to be pushed on them.
Your work is used
Accepted items go live to candidates. You will see how they perform — how often each item is answered correctly, and which distractors do their job.

Write to careers@charterowl.com with the role you are interested in, your CFA progress, and one paragraph on which reading you would write first and why. That last part tells us more than a CV does.
