1. Scope
This policy explains what personal data CharterOwl collects when you use charterowl.com and the exam portal, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and how you can have it removed. It is written to meet the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
To complete before launch. The registered entity name, registered address and named grievance officer are left blank deliberately — they are facts only the business can supply, and a payment gateway will check them against your incorporation documents.
2. What we collect
When you create an account: your first and last name, email address, mobile number and the examination date you are working toward. Your password is stored only as a cryptographic hash — we never hold it in a readable form and cannot recover it for you.
When you use the portal: the questions you answer, the option you chose, whether it was correct, how long you spent, and which questions you bookmark or highlight. This is what the analytics are computed from; without it the product does not function.
When you contact us: whatever you put in the message, and your email address so we can reply.
We do not collect payment card details. Payments are handled by our payment gateway, which is separately responsible for that data.
3. Why we collect it
To give you an account and keep your progress; to compute the analytics that are the point of the product; to send you service messages such as confirmation and password reset emails; and to answer you when you write to us. We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with advertisers.
4. Where it is stored
Account and answer data is held with Supabase, our database and authentication provider, on infrastructure in their hosting region. Transport is encrypted, and access is restricted by row-level security so one account cannot read another's rows.
5. How long we keep it
While your account is open, and for twelve months after your access period ends so that returning candidates keep their history. After that, account and answer data is deleted. You can ask us to delete it sooner at any time.
6. Your rights
You may ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to support@charterowl.com and we will respond within one working day and complete the request within thirty days.
7. Grievance officer
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you may raise a grievance with our named grievance officer. Write to support@charterowl.com marking your message for the attention of the Grievance Officer.
8. Cookies and local storage
We use browser storage to keep you signed in for the length of a session and to hold your study data locally between visits. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
9. Changes
If we change how we handle personal data we will update this page and, where the change is material, email the address on your account.
